from Walt Disney's Aladdin: The Series, 1994-1995
from the first season episode, "Never Say Nefir"

Aladdin is simply one of the greatest animated movies of all time. Certainly one of the most popular. It was Disney's 31st feature and was at the height of the Disney Renaissance. And two years after that came the American animated television show that this is from. Most of the voice talent returned for the television show, with the notable exception of Robin Williams who was replaced by Dan Castellaneta, who is of course most well known as the voice of Homer Simpson!

This is a VERY RARE hand-painted original production background with an overlay cel from the "Never Say Nefir" episode of season one of the show. In 1993 Sotheby's held an auction of the movie backgrounds (since no cels were used for the movie) and some of those backgrounds went for $25,000 - to this day even the very simply ones go for thousands. This is a rare chance to own an Aladdin background that is very representative of the style for much less, because it is from the TV show!

The background is done on thick board. On the back is the stamp for the studio of "Milana Borkert" who worked on the backgrounds for the TV show - she is listed as such in IMDB. There is a cel overlay of the tower that gets destroyed. We've shown two screen captures of when this appears in the episode - the last two images. Oddly the cel overlay does not quite match the show - it is much more intricate than the one seen in the final episode. Which means it is likely preliminary. But the background matches exactly.  Measures approx. 10.5" x 13".
