THE GREAT MOUSE DETECTIVE, 1986
HUGE Original Production Rough Animation Drawing
of FIDGET the Bat
from the WALT DISNEY feature film!
Comes with a Charles Scott Gallery Certificate of Authenticity
It's been 35 years since this wonderful animated Walt Disney feature was released! Featuring a Sherlock Holmes like mouse named Basil Rathbone, and his companion Dr. Dawson who go up against Professor Ratigan the rat! Based on the book Basil of Baker Street by Eve Titus.
Rough drawings come before the finished drawings, which are used to make the cels. But many people don't realize that the DRAWINGS are where the actual art takes place! Cels are merely copies of the drawings. THIS is the art made by the animator!
This is an amazing rough production drawing in graphite of FIDGET the Bat as he attempts to explain to Ratigan that he followed his orders to capture Olivia, seen at the 36:44 timestamp in the movie. Drawing is 16-field measures approximately 12.5" x 16" (with one or two measuring only 15" wide).
Some production wear including mild crinkling, waviness in the lower right, light yellowing from age (especially near the edges). NOTE: these are SO big they don't fit into our scanner so, some of these have the production strips removed and retaped to the bottom as was common during production but that's not shown. ALSO, these have multiple hole punches both on the bottom and the top - clearly they kept moving him in the frame - again we couldn't show that. Would look great matted!
