ERNEST TRICOMI - BOY SCOUTS
Region Three
Including Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Virginia, Delaware, North Carolina, Maryland
Oil Painting, 1972
Provenance: The BSA Collection
Framed and Ready to Hang, with a Charles Scott Gallery Letter of Authenticity
Ernest Tricomi did a series of paintings in 1972 for the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) that showed each of the regions and included the states and some major events from the region. These paintings were in the BSA collection for 43 years until we purchased them last year.
This is a rare chance to own one of these original works. This painting is done with oil on canvas. It has been framed to approximately 23" x 19" (frame has some wear), with no glass. Signed and dated in the lower right.
NOTE: we've shown a picture of the painting and one of another in the series that shows the frame. This IS framed with the exact same framing.
PROVENANCE: This was purchased from the BSA collection sale in 2025 to benefit the survivors of childhood sexual abuse within the BSA. In 2023 the Boy Scouts 321-piece art collection was transferred to a trust and auctioned off over several years. This piece is from that collection - a rare opportunity to own a piece with amazing provenance. The auction house incorrectly listed this as Saro Tricomi, but thanks to an eagle-eyed Scoutmaster, we corrected this.
About the artist: Ernest Tricomi was a prolific, well-known and lauded artist who did many paintings for the BSA. In 1975 he was awarded the commission to paint President Gerald H Ford (former Boy Scout) from a nation-wide competition held by 12 BSA delegates. This portrait joined the body of work he created for other well-known figures.
