This is one of the most interesting pieces we have from the amazing Maurice Noble (1911-2001). It was created for one of the Private Snafu shorts set in the South Pacific during World War II. This was when Maurice met Chuck Jones, Friz Freleng and Ted Geisel (Doctor Seuss). Maurice would go on to have a long career with Warner Brothers and these illustrious figures.
The piece is done in gouache on light board of 10" x 7.5". Matted with an opening size of 8" x 6". In addition, the painting is hand-signed by Mr. Noble in the bottom right corner. Possibly some early design work for Operation Snafu, released on 10/22/45.
EVEN BETTER, this image can be seen on page 22 of the book The Noble Approach: Maurice Noble and the Zen of Animation Design. Minor handling. In Very Good condition. From the Maurice Noble Archives.
