KEITH HARING
Original Animation Production Cel
from SESAME STREET (episode 3050), "Dancing Men" 1993

Matted and ready to frame, with Charles Scott Gallery Letter of Authenticity!

Keith Haring rose to fame in the 1980's and suddenly his figural images were known around the world. They started, of course, in the New York Subways. Now his art is in the Museum of Modern Art, the Whitney, the Art Institute in Chicago, etc. and his originals have sold for millions.

The Haring foundation worked with Sesame street and Bill and Linda Davis at Artbear Pigmation Studio and created a few cartoon vignettes of his iconic street art in the 1990's for the show. The cels are rare and sought after. They don't come up very often and we happen to have this iconic cel from over 20 years ago. This cel was used on screen in episode 3050 and is referred to as "5 Dancing Men." https://muppet.fandom.com/wiki/Episode_3050.  It is likely that the segment was reversed to produce the white figures on black.  The cel has some minor handling wear to it as it is 30 years old - most notably some slight discoloration of the white in the central figure.  This is the finest and most iconic example we've had of his cartoon segments on Sesame Street.  It is also our last one.

There's an interesting article about the history of the segments here: https://animationobsessive.substack.com/p/keith-haring-in-motion

Our mats are good, but do not do his artwork justice - it would be better in a nicer mat, so please let us know as SOON as you purchase it if you'd like us to leave it un-matted so you can have it custom matted.

We will mount this gorgeous piece of hand-drawn art in an acid-free, 4-ply paper mat that measures 11" x 14" - so just buy your own frame and hang it in your home gallery. Note: we only use archival/acid-free materials in mounting your artwork. The cels measure approximately 10.5" x 12.5" without matting.

SHIPPING COST INCLUDES PRIORITY SHIPPING AND INSURANCE!

Actually used in the making of the show and great for collectors or to hang on your wall as nostalgic decoration!
