Billy Tokyo was called "the best still-affordable painter you have never heard of" in the Washington University journal "The Common Reader," in a 2024 article by Best American writer John Griswold. He often works in Pop Art and Abstract Expressionism but no form is beyond his talents. You'll even find a splash of graffiti style in much of his work.

Done on Bristol board, "Hippo Blue - Aqua" is one of a series of these gorgeous happy-pop-style works done by Mr. Dempsey. He's done similar images in Aqua and Light Blue - each is slightly different. It measures approximately 40" x 24". Signed by the artist.

More about the artist: Billy Tokyo studied under Æthelred Eldridge, a multi-disciplinary artist who taught at Ohio University for 56 years and, in 2010 he won first place for his painting "The Great American Landscape" in Art Loop Open, Chicago’s first public voting contest. Other accolades include gallery exhibitions in the US, UK, Japan and more as well as being an official poster artist for 2009 Lollapalooza, Chicago, and an official poster artist for 2010 SXSW.
