For a Samuel Lowe Book of Poetry
Almost 50 years old!
Comes with a Charles Scott Gallery Certificate of Authenticity
Day Dreams and Soap Bubbles are just two of the 101 Rhymes for Fun included in this illustrated children's anthology of poetry from the late 1970's. The book features several poems by well-known writers of the early 20th century: Laura E. Richards, Cristina Rossetti, and Ralph Waldo Emerson. The illustrations are credited to Viola Lowenheim, and Samuel Lowe staff members author/illustrator Sharon Banigan (aka Sharon Stearns) and author Helen Gale likely collaborated on selecting the poetry in this compilation.
This interior illustration has an attached onionskin overlay with monochrome color elements added in watercolor. It is hand-drawn in graphite/artist's pencil with ink detail and is numbered to the corresponding page number (and the old title). Done on lightweight board (a very light artboard/cardboard). Size varies a little but generally around approximately 11" x 15". Onionskin is in varying states of wrinkling, etc. (see picture). Tape has aged and is darkened to yellow.
