This is EXTREMELY rare. Horton Hears a Who! was adapted into a half-hour animated TV special by MGM Animation/Visual Arts in 1970. It was directed by Chuck Jones, produced by Theodor Geisel (Dr. Seuss), and narrated by Hans Conried, who also voiced Horton.
Art from Horton is highly prized and we've never seen another model sheet from the production of the show! Model sheets were used during production (prior to the release) - to keep things consistent (across animators) through the life of production of a film or show. A very limited number were printed and handed out to animators, so few survive.
Model sheets WERE used, so this one has wear - in particular around the edges where there is some light folds, minor tears, etc. It measures 14" x 18".
Even better, the back has an ASIFA-West stamp on it, perhaps indicated this was originally sold during one of their charity events.
ASIFA is an American non-profit organization in Los Angeles, California. It is a branch member of the International Animated Film Association. Its purpose is to promote the art of film animation in a variety of ways, including its own archive and an annual awards presentation, the Annie Awards. In addition it used to have charity animation art sales!
