Founded by the italian art historian, Gualtieri in 1938, XXe Siecle is a highly respected Parisian art and literary journal that ran through 1978. The magazine was similar to Verve and Derriere Le Miroir in printing unique lithographic and woodcut prints for the artists featured in each edition, with each volume containing at least one first-run, original print commissioned specifically for that issue, from masters like Chagall and Matisse.
This Graham Sutherland lithograph is from the 1972 XXe Siecle issue 38 (run of 1500). It is a specially commissioned lithograph entitled "Balancing."
Measures approximately 13.25" x 10.25" and includes a Charles Scott Gallery COA.
