We are truly fortunate to be a preferred gallery with Linda Jones Ent., the company run by the daughter and grand-son of the legendary Warner Brothers/Looney Tunes animator, Chuck Jones. We also participate in a number of their charity auctions and picked up this amazing drawing from one of those - so this is direct from the source!
It is a Key production animation cel drawing of MAX from How the Grinch Stole Christmas. This amazing Dr. Seuss story was adapted for the screen and directed by Chuck Jones. Note: a Key drawing is done by a Key animator vs. an in-betweener and these are much more rare.
This one is from around the 3:21 mark where the Grinch is holding him up describing all the things he hates about Christmas in Who-ville (we've shown a color screen capture from the moment in the film - or a frame before or after)! It is one of the larger figural drawings of Max we've seen. It is done on MGM paper (we've shown the back of the paper as well). Size is 12.5" x 10.5". Minor handling wear. Paper is lightly yellow from age with darker yellowing on extreme right edge (not anywhere near the image). Very small water stain in upper right corner.
