AN AMERICAN TAIL 1986
by STEVEN SPIELBERG and Don Bluth

Hand-Painted, Original Production Animation Art CEL SETUP
and KEY MASTER BACKGROUND

Matted and Ready to Frame, with a Charles Scott Gallery Certificate of Authenticity!

"I stopped that a long time ago!" In this hand-painted, original 12-field production cel, Fievel has a hard time with Orphan's Alley bullies, named Noodles (with glasses) and Roc. They make fun of Fievel because he's looking for his family. This wonderful cel can be found around the 1:08:55 mark in the film.

The gouache on board Key Master background is of course the background used on camera with the cel for a great one-of-a-kind setup of Fievel and two of the film's harder characters to find. The background carries the initials DB in graphite along the bottom peghole border; that was director Don Bluth's approval mark. The setup is matted with an opening of 12" x 9.5", and an overall mat size of 20" x 16". The condition is Very Good with minor handling wear. Provenance: From the Mike Glad Museum Collection.

An American Tail is a 1986 American animated musical adventure film directed by Don Bluth. The film stars the voices of Phillip Glasser, John Finnegan, Amy Green, Nehemiah Persoff, Dom DeLuise, and Christopher Plummer. It is the story of Fievel Mousekewitz and his family as they emigrate from Russia to the United States for freedom. However, he gets lost and must find a way to reunite with them. The film was released in the United States on November 21, 1986, by Universal Pictures, four months after Disney's The Great Mouse Detective was released. It received positive reviews and was a box office hit, making it the highest-grossing non-Disney animated film at the time; the film is currently Don Bluth's second highest-grossing animated film, only behind Anastasia (1997).
