Comes with a Charles Scott Gallery Letter of Authenticity
This piece of iconic outsider art comes from Angola Prison, Louisiana, the largest maximum-security prison in the Unites States. The prison is home to one of the most unusual events in America – the Angola Prison Rodeo and Arts Festival. The art in the Festival portion of the event is all created and sold by the inmates, including this amazing piece created by Jeffrey Nelson.
The story of the acquisition of this sculpture was chosen for inclusion in the The Best American Sports Writing 2020. The digital artwork shown above (the image with the fence) ran as part of a previous run of the story and a color laser print of the artwork will be included with the sculpture. The sculpture measures approximately 19” tall, is hand-painted/spray-painted and is made of welded, found-metal pieces. It comes with a Charles Scott Gallery Letter of Authenticity.
