1940 Pinocchio Background Layout/Storyboard from Walt Disney Ship inside Whale!
RARE Original Production Storyboard/Layout Drawing
from Walt Disney's Second Feature in 1940
of the Ship's Mast Inside Monstro the Whale!
Matted and ready to frame, with a Charles Scott Gallery COA!
This is a beautifully detailed hand-drawn pencil storyboard/background layout drawing from a pivotal moment in Walt Disney's 2nd feature film, Pinocchio. It was made prior to the 1940, and the final background is quite similar to this drawing (albeit flipped).
When Pinocchio is reunited with Geppetto, inside Monstro the Whale, they are on Geppetto's fishing boat. This wonderful drawing is of the mast of that ship. You can just picture it on the wall in front of Walt Disney as they craft the wonderful movie we've come to love.
It appears to have been specifically for the moment when Pinocchio and Geppetto have lit the fire to make the giant whale sneeze. It may have also been used in other moments of this scene, but we've added screen captures of the mast above where you can see that it was nearly identical in the final movie. This is a rare treasure!
We will mount the artwork in an acid-free, 4-ply paper mat that measures 11" x 14" - so just buy your own frame and hang it in your home gallery.
