Battle of the Planets is an American adaptation of the Japanese anime series Science Ninja Team Gatchaman (1972). Adapted for America by Sandy Frank Entertainment, who used about 85 of the 105 original episodes. It was the most successful anime series in the United States during the 1970s, airing on 100 network affiliates during after-school hours by 1979.
This production cel is the smaller sized animation cel. Also comes with the matching drawing (which has rubbing from cel removal). Both cel and drawing has staple holes at top. We're not sure which episode or iteration this cel is from. Comes with color copy background.
We will mount this gorgeous piece of art in an acid-free, 4-ply paper mat that measures 11" x 14" - so you can just buy your own frame and hang it in your home gallery. We only use archival/acid-free materials in mounting your artwork. NOTE: in most cases we have not yet mounted the art in a mat, so if you wish to have us leave it unmounted let us know IMMEDIATELY when you make the purchase, as we will often mat it within minutes.
EVEN BETTER - this cel came directly from the Wendell Washer estate. Wendell, like all career animators, had files of artwork they collected. This was one of the pieces he had for himself! Keep an eye on our site, as we have thousands of more pieces coming soon. Note: it includes the folder in which Wendell had it stored.
